What I’m Learning So Far

So I’m learning this is a very slow process to get traffic.  I am doing all my updates on my blogs atleast twice a week.  I am posting each thing I write on my blog I am posting to Ezine, Go Articles, and Articlebase.  I am also doing some propellar submissions and also yahoo answers.

I am not seeing that much traffic at all on my sites.  So maybe it is a time thing, I’m not sure.  I am just going to keep updating and plugging away.  I’m using what Griz says in his make money online blog in terms of how to do the posts.  Like keyword wise and using bolds.

I need to learn more about niches and how to set them up.  I know some but not enough yet.  I am going to re read Griz’s posts on them.  He had an american Idol one, I think her name was Asia’h Epperson and he conquered her name in Google we can say.  He was like #2 for her name, behind guess who?  The American Idol website.

Well I’m going to go update my meet girls online blog, I think that can have potential.  After all how many losers wish they could just meet girls online easily :)  Then off to read more about Niches and how to conquer them.

Niche Blogging - Learning From Vic

So right now I am doing an intensive learning session on niche blogging. I have always been reading Grizz’s blog but now I have stepped out and am reading another what some call an A-lister. His name is Vic and he has a make money online blog called Blogger Unleashed.

So I am going to be basically taking notes as I go through his many posts about niche blogs, so here goes:

Start A Blog About Ants

Ants seems to be a niche so this makes sense to me, he is using this as an example. He goes a basic Google search and comes up with about 2 million in competition, good number.  Then he goes next to say get a tool:

Google AdWords: Keyword Tool

He does a search to find the search volume of the keyword ants and also to see the cpc for it.

Ok he started talking about buying a previously owned domain and I just him.  I spent 3 hours on about 4 different sites looking for previously owned domains with pagerank and also history like they were registered 3 years ago blah blah.

I found none, not even one.  When you do see a pagerank then you later learn that its fake, don’t even let me get started, but yes a page rank aparently can be “fake.”  Well that just makes it easier doesn’t it.

Anywho putting a break on that for a while not sure about that subject so I’m just going to chill back and let it sink in maybe.

Travis Is Back

A NEW START

Ok so I am back as of September 2008.  My recent job that I had undertaken lets just say did not go as planned so you can say 8 months of my life were pretty much a waist.

But I came back and what did I do first I went over to see how Grizz was doing at his blog about how to make money online.  After all that is how I started this and got interested in it.  But then things took a turn and I got disinterested.

I’M BACKKKKKK

Well I am back once again!  Yes I am still at ground ZERO!  But, yes I said but… I will be making my way to the top, debt free and free from dealing with a boss!

I’ve already started 3 more blogs but they are not monetized cause Grizz says don’t do that till atleast a month later :)  That guy is truely great to learn from, def check his blog out, the guy makes an absolute killing on the internet with various different revenue streams.

THE BIG MONEY

The biggest he likes to say is when you can actually sell something, which he eventually did with his dog site, you’ll have to read about that.  But funny thing is, today I went searching on the internet for something I need and I noticed there are no real dominant websites out there.  In fact the first 2 sites that came up for this popular item were amazon.com and ebay.com.  The next was a page rank 2 site that had OK URL for the product, but not great.

Needless to say, this will be my project and maybe one day a money maker but who knows right…

My Quest For Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate x64 Retail

Ok so as some of you know, I am not the biggest fan of M$.   But who cares, they have some weird policies yes, but get over that for a little bit with me.  They make some pretty nice software.  I mean do you even remember what we used to use before windows came out?

I can vaguely remember my Apple IIe computer which ran, um god knows what.  Anywho, I am on a quest to save up to buy a legit version of Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate x64 Retail.  Yes I said retail, none of this oem stuff or anything like that.  With how many times I redo my system, with formats and whatever other hacks… I will definitely  be utilizing the installation of this software a few times.

Go here to learn what the specific differences are with Windows Vista Retail and OEM.

Thats the benefit of Vista Retail, you have the right to have it installed and reinstalled as many times as you wish, but you can only have it installed on one machine at a time.  It’s just like any other product.  I’m not sure why or how an operating system can be sold any way but this.  Think about it, it’s like buying a CD that you can only play in the original CD player that you put it into.  Weird.

But I just pretend that this is the only one available and despite it’s high price tag, it’s the only one ‘out there’ for me.  I ignore the other OEM’s and upgrades and whatever other version of Vista Microsoft has fabricated.

I am really interested to utilize my computer’s hardware, as the processor  is 64 bit, so of course why not get a 64 bit OS.  BRILLIANT! (Guiness)

Army Of Blogs - Quanity>Quality

Ok so you all know that I am now back to the blogging life, aka trying to make a little bit of extra money using various blogs.  Well let me give you an idea of how I envision this…

Like I said before, Lunarpages now allows you to have an unlimited number of addon domains, that means that you can purchase their minimal hosting package (assuming you won’t have tons of traffic early on) and host as many domains as possible.  But what does that mean to me you ask?

Well my blogs will not be huge powerful page rank 6 websites, they will all have their little niche and be keyword powerful for those niches.  So each blog might only net $10 per month.  But combine that with the fact I will be hosting as many blogs or domains as my fingers let me, and the money will linearly multiply.  Of course it will depend how good the blogs are in terms of content, but I am setting goals of $10 per month per blog.

So having said that, now you know my goals and I will keep you updated as how they are doing.  Right now I have 4 blogs that I am authoring, and I plan on adding about 3 every week.

Lunar Pages Web Hosting - Affordable, Reliable

I have used a few hosting companies since my internet breakthrough about 5 years ago.  And this post mine seem like I’m trying to sell something, which is true and false.  I am not trying to sell Lunarpages Web Hosting to you, I am telling you how good they have been, and offering that if you want to sign up, by all means sign up using my links.

 Lunarpages.com Web Hosting

Top 3 Reasons LunarPages is the best web hosting company:

  1. Uptime - Lunarpages has 99.9% uptime and that is an understatement, because in the last 3 years of having their service, they have been down for a total of 5 minutes in 3 years time.  That is amazing, see alot of companies claim 99.9% uptime but in reality it is alot less than that.
  2. Lunarpages is the source - Lunarpages affordable web hosting is source, meaning they are the ones making the product and they are the ones selling it to you.  Many of these web hosting companies are merely just faces and they are just the ones selling you the product, they are not the ones who are actually dealing with the ongoing problems and maintenance.  This point is obvious and is true in any business, deal with the source, avoid extra ‘middle man’ fees and the delay in correcting an error is alot faster when dealing with the source.
  3. Price! - I started with their basic package which was an astounding $7/month.  I got 10 free addon domains which was totally cool.  But at that price I could not pass up Lunarpages web hosting.  Now they even have it so the basic package gets UNLIMTED addon domains!  That is killer, you can have as many addon domains on your hosting account, something that brings a smile to my face at least :)

So shop around for what web hosting company you think is the best, but in the end keep Lunarpages Web Hosting in mind, as they will never let you down.

Oh and did I mention the 24/7 phone number you can call when you haver any question about your hosting package that you have, technical questions, billing questions, whatever…

RoboForm - Remembers Passwords and Auto Fill-In

Ok so I have been using this software called RoboForm because, well I just got sick and tired of trying to remember all of my usernames and their associated passwords. I mean I was even trying to stay organized and use an excel spreadsheet to remember all of them. Of course I would have to go back and copy and paste the usernames and passwords from that .xls file, not easy… aka I’m lazy :)

So I was searching around the internet for programs that can do this automatically and I came across
which remembers your usernames and passwords on a very limited level. I used this and was semi satisfied.

I then came across RoboForm, which to be really honest is one of the best piece of software I have seen in the last 2 years. It made everything easy and can remember any username and password, to any site that I go to. It also can encrypt or protect these passwords by setting what they call is a “master password.” The program totally rocks and I even found out how it can do autofill for article sites! Yep, and I didn’t even know it could do that.

So try out RoboForm and I bet you will be just as impressed as I am.

Blogging For A Newbie

Ok so today, I am talking with my friend online, her name is Lisa, (check out her portfolio here)wonderful girl by the way.  She, like most hates her job, and does not feel challenged by it.  She loves art, photography, and things of that nature.  So I brought up to her, why not start a little blog about some of those subjects!

After all, this is how the most powerful internet people got started, just blogging about something they loved to do.  So of course this will not be a full time job for her, but what better way to pass 45 mins at work when bored, than to author your very own blog!

Anyway so she is actually thinking now about what kind of blog she wants to author.  Not so much for the purpose of making money, as many of us do, but more so to talk about things that she loves to do and talk about.  Also learning the ropes of blogging won’t be such a bad skill to acquire huh :P

Well I am going to set her up with a free wordpress blog once she has given me what domain she wants.  We all use wordpress it is TEH BOMB :)

Of course she doe not know the least about how to set it up, or where to buy the domain name, or anything like that.  But of course, I will help my good friend Lisa out!

My Parental Community Forum

So my Parental Community Forum is up and doing pretty well so far.  I have 23 members to date and there are plenty of threads to post on.  I think it will be a good thing for parents to join as they can get advice and also give advice for parents in similar situations as theirs.

The main focus of the forum is about children’s safety online.  As we can all agree after seeing the show To Catch A Predator.  The users are offering very good advice, and I myself for one have learned alot, even though I am not as active a poster as some of the members.  Just because I do not have children, and think it might be best to sit back and let the users build up the community.

On a similar note, I have decided to not monetize it yet.  I don’t want it to seem like this is only done for money, as it is not… unlike some of my other online endeavors.  But in any case, I will hold off on monetizing the forum.
